| How long are these Slide Show Videos? Your video slide show can be as long or as short as you need it to be (up to 2 hours). The length depends upon the number of photos you have and/or the length of the song(s) you want to use. We normally leave each photo on the screen for about 5 seconds, so 12 photos = 1 minute of video, 60 photos = 5 minutes, 100 photos = 8 1/2 minutes, 200 photos = 17 minutes, etc. Multiply the number of photos you have by 5 to determine the length of music you will need. Of course if you don't have enough photos to cover the length of the song, we can fade the song out at the end. What size photos should I send? Any size photo from "wallet size" up to 8" x 10" can be used, however, keep in mind that because of the TV format, vertical photos will not fill the complete screen and will appear with a border on each side. Photos requiring cropping will also have a border around the edges. Do I have to furnish my own music? Yes, to comply with copyright restrictions, songs must be provided by you, the customer, for your projects. This will prove to be a more meaningful presentation for you and for those you share your video with. There are certain restrictions to abide by, though. The CD must be a purchased copy - NOT A COPY! Your audio CD(s) will be returned to you when we send you the final product. Do I have to send my photos in the mail? No, it is not necessary to send your photos in the mail. In fact, you can scan your own photos and burn them on a CD or you can take them to a local photo store to have them scanned and burned on a CD. Then just send us the CD instead of all of your precious photos. Will I get my photos or PhotoCD back? Yes, we will return your photos with your completed video or DVD. Are there any specifications for scanning my own photos? When scanning your photos, you should scan them at 300 dpi (dots per inch) or larger to ensure optimal quality. We recommend saving your photos as .jpg files, but other formats (such as .tiff, .tga, and .bmp) will work as well. When scanning your photos, it is best to number them in the order that you would like them to appear in the video. After they are scanned, you can burn them on a CD and mail it to us. When you develop your film, it is possible to have your photos viewed "online" instead of being put on a CD. If you choose this option, email us the link to your photos and then let us know in which order you would like them arranged. Can I include video clips along with my photos? Yes, you may. Make sure your clips are of good quality (no shaking, good lighting, etc.) and under 2 minutes in length. Each clip should be clearly marked. Video clips can be submitted on VHS, Hi-8, Digital 8, or MiniDV tapes. Currently there is no extra charge for video clips. What about Title pages? Title pages are words that appear at the beginning and/or end of your video, or to separate sections within your music video. For instance, if you have more than one song, you might categorize one song as wedding photos, another song as reception photos and a third song as honeymoon vacation photos. Each song could have its own title page. Or if you are showcasing different members of your family, you could have a title page for mom, dad, brother, sister, cat, etc. Currently there is no extra charge for these title pages. How long does it take to make my video? The time it takes us to create your video depends on a variety of factors such as the length of the video and whether we have to scan the photos. However, it should take approximately two weeks from the time we receive your photos to the time you receive your completed video. How much does it cost to make a musical slide show video? The BASIC package costs $75.00 $49.99 + shipping. See our Pricing page for the different packages available. Do you offer discounts for churches or other non-profit organizations? What steps do I take to place an order?
Photos In Harmony absolutely will not handle orders containing an obscene, graphic or offensive nature and we reserve the right to determine if photographs fall into these categories. Eamil us at: photos@photosinharmony.com How long will it take to have my video tapes converted? In most cases, your project should be ready to ship out to you within 24-48 hours. On occassion it has taken up to 72 hours if we receive the tapes over the weekend or holiday. What kinds of videotapes can you convert to DVD? At this time we can only transfer VHS, VHS-C, and mini-DV in NTSC format. NTSC is the standard format used in the United States. You've used the terms: dub and convert. Do they both mean the same thing? Yes, dubbing is making a copy from one source to another (from videotape to DVD) and converting is changing the format from one source to another (from analog to digital). We are doing both of those tasks at the same time so sometimes we say dubbing and other times we say converting, but we mean the same thing. Can you put content from more than one tape onto a DVD? Yes, you can send more than one tape, but the total content can not be longer than 2 hours. Currently there is no extra charge for having more than one source tape! How much do you charge to dub from videotape to DVD? We charge $9.99 per DVD plus shipping and handling. If you have a VHS tape with 6-hours of content on it because you recorded something in the LP mode, it will take 3 DVDs to contain all of that content. So your cost would be $29.97 plus s/h (that's 3 DVDs X $9.99 = $27.97). Do you also edit out scenes we don't want included on the DVD? We normally just start the dub at the beginning and let it go to the end. We don't sit there and watch the video, (However, we do step in every so often to "check" that everything is still dubbing correctly.) IF you would like a scene deleted, let us know and we will keep an eye out for it and edit a section out. We cannot edit out every little detail throughout your tape, though. Don't send us a list of edits to make because we are not set up to edit everyone's videos for them. Will somebody watch my videos while converting them to DVD? No. Your privacy is important to us so we never sit down to watch your personal home movies and we don't make copies for ourselves. We do, however, step in every so often to "check" that everything is still dubbing correctly. Is there any content you will not convert? Photos In Harmony absolutely will not handle orders containing an obscene, graphic or offensive nature and we reserve the right to determine if video content falls into these categories. In addition, we cannot convert Non-supported Format (such as PAL), Copy Protected videos, Copyright videos, or videotapes with too much physical damage.
